Carle Health is seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Clinical Sleep Health Educator to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will play a key part in improving patient health outcomes by providing education, coaching, and ongoing support to patients with sleep-related conditions such as insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, and other common sleep disorders. Working within a community-based, patient-centered model of care, you will collaborate closely with sleep medicine physicians, respiratory therapists, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to promote safe, effective, and sustainable sleep health practices. The Clinical Sleep Health Educator will guide patients and their families in understanding sleep disorders, treatment options, and the importance of adherence to prescribed therapies, including PAP and related respiratory support devices. You will conduct one-on-one and group education sessions, assist patients in adopting healthy sleep hygiene and behavioral strategies, and help troubleshoot common barriers to successful treatment. Using motivational interviewing and other evidence-based education techniques, you will empower patients to actively participate in their care plans, improve their quality of life, and reduce health risks associated with poor sleep. A key component of this position involves reviewing non-diagnostic elements of sleep studies and therapy reports, reinforcing physician recommendations, and providing practical education that supports clinical decision-making without independently diagnosing or prescribing. You will document education encounters and patient progress in the electronic health record, communicate updates to the broader care team, and participate in care coordination to ensure appropriate follow-up, continuity of care, and patient safety.
