Description

Position Title: Project Security Specialist

Department/Location: SimTEC / Oklahoma City, OK

Status: Regular/Full-Time (Exempt)

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Project Security Specialist to directly manage, oversee, and execute the technical security and compliance requirements of our active client contracts. This role sits within the project execution team and focuses entirely on project-level risk mitigation, technical security deliverables, and client compliance standards. The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, adaptability, and a team-first mindset, with the flexibility to step in when critical issues require attention. The Project Security Specialist will coordinate with our Facility Security Officer (FSO), handle the day-to-day project-specific data boundaries, develop and maintain security documentation, and attend client-facing technical audits as required.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Review, translate, and enforce specialized technical security requirements mandated by client contracts and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Maintain project-specific data access control lists for personnel touching sensitive project data.
  • Maintain a continuous audit-ready posture for the project; prepare technical evidence, documentation, and reporting required for client-led security reviews.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the client's security officers regarding project milestones, vulnerabilities, and risk registers.
  • Lead the investigation and mitigation of project-specific technical anomalies, data spills, or application policy violations, loop-in the FSO and/or enterprise-level security personnel only when necessary.
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:
  • Office-based with no remote work opportunities
  • May require occasional work outside normal business hours to support operations and incident response.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Current TOP SECRET Clearance (will be validated upon hiring)
  • 3+ years of dedicated experience in cybersecurity compliance, technical project management, or contract security operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of contract-specific compliance standards (e.g., NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, SOC 2 Type II, or FedRAMP).
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, or CySA+ are highly valued.
  • Strong knowledge of security best practices.
  • Experience with security auditing, vulnerability assessments, and incident response is also valuable
  • Technically capable and a self-starter with strong organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills, both written and verbal.
  • Clear communication, patience, problem-solving, and ability to follow documented processes.
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure and meet timelines on deliverables.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for working in a highly collaborative environment with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to operate independently as an embedded security advocate within a delivery team, without relying on daily corporate IT oversight.
  • Proficient in setting up project-level data access boundaries, maintaining compliance matrices, and articulating technical risks to non-technical business clients.
  • Strong ability to collaborate smoothly with internal leadership, including the FSO and project managers, to align project security with broader site guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of Insider Threat and Industrial Security Program requirements.
  • Familiarity with network security principles.
