Phony Texts is a scripted storytelling company founded in 2018 by two brothers. Today, we reach over 22 million followers across 15+ original Snapchat series in seven languages. Our stories combine humor, drama, and mystery — all told through the lens of chat fiction and short-form videos optimized for mobile. Based in Los Angeles, Phony Texts is part of Phony Content, a digital media company focused on creating trendsetting content for Millennial and Gen Z audiences. Role Summary We’re looking for a creative, detail-oriented Writer’s Assistant to join our team in Echo Park. This role is ideal for someone who’s obsessed with storytelling, understands internet culture, and thrives in fast-paced content environments. You’ll support the creative leads, take detailed notes in writers’ rooms, and help shape chat fiction stories that perform across Snapchat and other platforms. This is a hybrid position, with three days in office and the option to work remotely the rest of the time. Responsibilities Take detailed notes during pitch sessions, brainstorms, and writer meetings Track changes and feedback across story drafts, scripts, and outlines Assist in researching trends, characters, and concepts that align with our audience and platform Write or co-write pitches, outlines, and scripts for chat-based video content Pitch original story ideas that feel fresh, engaging, and on-brand Provide administrative support to founders and producers as needed (scheduling, prep materials, etc.) Coordinate across departments (video editors, translators, production coordinators) to keep production moving in the right direction Monitor platform trends (Snapchat, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook) to inspire timely story development Manage and maintain the CEO’s calendar, scheduling meetings and prioritizing time-sensitive commitments Oversee day-to-day office operations, including stocking the fridge, ordering lunch, and maintaining a well-organized workspace Serve as a go-to point of contact for office needs, ensuring a smooth and efficient work environment Qualifications 2–3 years of experience in a writer’s room, production company, or digital media environment Bachelor’s degree in Film, Creative Writing, Communications, or related field (or equivalent work experience) Strong writing ability—especially in short-form storytelling or dialogue-driven formats Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple storylines or projects at once Comfort with startup-style environments: resourceful, independent, fast-paced Familiarity with Phony Texts’ tone and humor Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets), Slack, and basic file management systems This is a full-time, 3-month contract position (approximately 40 hours per week) Hybrid role during the contract term, with an expectation of three days per week in-office at our Echo Park location Immediate start preferred; contract start date flexible based on availability This is a paid contract role; compensation based on experience Potential for extension beyond the initial 3-month term, though not guaranteed Company laptop and necessary equipment provided #J-18808-Ljbffr Phony Texts
