Supplier Quality Engineer | Delta Township, MI

Salary Range: $78,000 - $111,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement supplier quality assurance programs and procedures.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier quality.
  • Investigate and resolve supplier-related quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Review and approve supplier quality documentation, including PPAPs and control plans.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to drive continuous improvement in their quality processes.
  • Manage incoming material inspection and testing processes.
  • Facilitate supplier development initiatives to enhance their capabilities.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in supplier quality, quality engineering, or a related manufacturing quality role.
  • Proven experience with quality tools and methodologies such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys).
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 quality management systems.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively interact with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Experience with auditing suppliers (on-site and remote) and evaluating their quality systems and processes.

Bonus Qualifications

  • - Experience with Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt certification).
  • - Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and tools.
  • - Proficiency in statistical software packages (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
  • - Knowledge of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
  • - Experience in root cause analysis techniques like 8D or Fishbone diagrams.
